Alright y’all! I have now been an expecting mom three times, a sewing expecting mom twice, and a sewing mom expecting a boy twice. I am intimately aware of how fun and necessary (for me anyway) it was to make items for my future children. So…I’m here today to provide inspiration for sewing moms who are expecting baby boys. There are quite a few garments that you can sew for little boys but these are some of my favorites.
Bonnets
I love bonnets. I love smocked bonnets, unsmocked bonnets, button bonnets, heck I would probably love a handkerchief tied into a bonnet and placed on an infants head. Southern Stitches has some of my favorites. Okay she has all of my favorites. I am not affiliated with her at all…I just LOVE her bonnets.
I’m not sure how long you’re “allowed” to have boy’s wear bonnets. My guess is that their bonnet days end when their bubble days end. So when their little legs start to get less “chunky” and more toddler-y…so clear, I know.
Diaper Sets:
Hands-down, my all time favorite diaper set pattern is the one from Kathy Dykstra. I’ve written about it in quite a few posts before but the fit y’all. the fit is SO good and its completely lined!
Bubbles
Make ’em while you can! Some of my favorite boy bubbles are Creation’s by Michie 102 and 115. They are pictured below in that order.
Sometimes it feels like girl-mamas get all the fun when it comes to dressing their babies. I’m here to tell you though, if you’ll sew some of these items, buy some knee socks and saddle shoes, you’ll have just as much fun. I had a friend once tell me that she felt like her son’s monogram was his version of a hair bow….he didn’t leave the house unmonogrammed….sounds like pure perfection to me!
