Over the past few weeks I have been floored by how kind and thoughtful humanity can be. From the many masks made by my neighbors and peers, to the thoughtful gifts given to small children who aren’t used to being “stuck at home.” It is so refreshing to know that so many people are so good.
Now, more than ever, small businesses need our support. Again, I am floored by how many individuals I’ve seen reaching out to eat at local restaurants, order from local bakeries, and shop from local small retailers. I’ve witnessed plenty of small businesses being patronized by phone orders and through social media orders. Sometimes, that type of commerce is new for those small businesses. Which brings all new challenges for them. Today I’d like to share with you some of the small businesses listed specifically on Etsy that I’ve been shopping with over the past month, in hopes that it will introduce you to these businesses or rekindle your relationship with them.
Etsy is currently launching a campaign for people to #standwithsmall in which they are featuring different small businesses. I couldn’t love this campaign more so I thought I’d join in. Here are some of my favorite Etsy sellers and products. If you shop using these links you’ll not only be supporting these small businesses, I’ll earn a small commission on any sales.
- BobbieLouFabric:This is a new shop for met! She carries tons of printed fabric. Most of the fabrics are quilting cotton weight. I found the sweet ice ice cream fabric Robby is wearing in the picture above in her shop. She ships extremely quickly and is very responsive.
- HeartTugz: one of my tried and true fabric stores on Etsy. Check out this Liberty of London fabric listed with matching colors. Or the new Fabric Finders floral lawn and coordinating confetti fabric.
- Kathysheirloomshop: This is Kathy Dykstra’s shop, she’s got some AWESOME patterns. One of my favorites is this sweet little diaper set. Another sweet little pattern I can’t wait to try is this dress with smocked sleeves. Her instructions and patterns are flawless. I couldn’t recommend them enough.
- TheClassicApplique and JoyKateDesigns are two of my all time favorite embroidery file sources. This lab appliqué from TheClassicApplique is one of my all time most used files. This sweet car is a file I recently used on a sunsuit for Robby. You can see it in the picture below. I recently got this cute little rain boot frog from JoyKateDesigns and my kiddos loved it. In the past I have bought tons of files from her. This Build Your Own Shellfish file is so sweet and perfect for the beach. Both of these shops are run by extremely responsive women who take great pride in their work.
- CreationsByMichie: recently CreationsByMichie switched to an all PDF model. You can find all of her patterns in her Etsy shop. The sweet sunsuit on Robby above is one of my favorites. Its so versatile and can be made for both boys and girls. Here are some I’ve done over the years.
I love Etsy and the effort it makes to #standwithsmall is an admirable one. If we can do good by shopping from home, I’m all for it! Do you have any favorite Etsy shops you’d like to support? If so, list them in the comments here, tag them on my Instagram post, or on my Facebook posts. Let’s get those shops as much business as we can!
