Sewing Organization

I am currently attending an heirloom sewing class with thirteen other women at the Children’s Corner store. I’ll be doing several posts about this experience. This is a short and sweet post about one of the most diverse (and intriguing) things I’ve seen while in class. Everyone is organized (or in my case, not really organized) differently. It is so interesting to see so many different ways of storing the same items.

Sewing somewhere other than your sewing room is a daunting feat! Remembering all your tools, notions, fabrics, etc. can be overwhelming. At the moment, I have a three tier tupperware form of organization. Similar to the one listed below. I like it because I can take it apart and use it as every day storage in my sewing room, but its easy to transport. The one seen below is linked here. Another option is linked here.

One of the bags I’ve been eyeing is this little number. Its portable, has those great metal supports and has tons of pockets for everything you could possibly need. This would be simple to put up in your sewing room as is. I can see myself needing a couple of these in the future. This one is linked here. One that is a scosh smaller is linked here.

I’ve also seen a lot of people with organizers similar to this one. This one would be great if your don’t need to be able to close a lid on all your tools…I drive considerable distances to get to my sewing classes so I’m not sure this option would be portable for me. I could totally see it working in a sewing room though.

The teacher of the class, Bonnie has one of the coolest organizers I’ve seen. Its basically a cloth binder with included folders that have tons of pockets. This one is her bag. The images on amazon aren’t great, so I snagged one directly from BlueFigs website but linked Amazon. If you’d prefer to go straight to the source, here is their website. If I’ve noticed one common thing about everyone in the class…we all shop on Amazon.

This one is similar to hers but a bit smaller. This particular brand seems to have a tons of different types of organizational tools. The one seen below seems to be the largest option. This one looks incredible too.

Anyway, short and sweet post while I’ve got some time to make it happen. I continue to take the class tomorrow and will be posting live videos in my Instagram and Facebook feeds. If you haven’t had a chance to take a sewing class, I cannot recommend it enough. Not only are the teachers an abundant source of information, the other class members often have different tips and tricks. Plus, its just fun to be with people who like to do what you like to do!

Happy Sewing!
